Disasters, whether natural or man-made, cause extreme distress and disruption because of wide-spread human, material or environmental losses. This was stated by Health Minister, Shri Kaul Singh Thakur while speaking on the occasion of first session of the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction meet held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today.
World Red Cross Day was observed at Raj Bhawan Shimla today. Smt Poonam Chauhan, Honorary Secretary Himachal Pradesh, Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section and other members of Indian Red Cross Society pinned Red Cross flags on Smt. Urmila Singh, Governor on the occasion. The theme for this Year's World Red Cross Day is '150 years of humanitarian action'.
