Article 370 of the Indian Constitution guarantees special autonomous status to J&K. It is a 'temporary provision' and comes under Part XXI of the Constitution of India, which deals with "Temporary, Transitional and Special provisions". However, in 2015, the J&K High Court has ruled that the provision is permanent.
Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has been on the boil for almost two months now. Curfew was lifted in most areas after 52 days. Over 60 people have died in the violent protests. Hundreds more have been injured. Is there a solution in sight? Will the separatists be able to drive out the Indian Government and liberate Kashmir with the help of Pakistan and Pakistani militants? I am sure this question is on the mind of every Kashmiri and many Indians.
