The Maharana Pratap ISBT Kashmere Gate is all set to greet passengers with an air conditioned waiting lounge, food court, glass elevator, and escalators from next month. The revamped ISBT Kashmere Gate under Phase-I is complete, and will be ready for operation from end of next month. The Phase-I renovation is being done at a cost of Rs 75 crores. The 500-600 buses that had been diverted from this terminal to Anand-Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan ISBTs will soon be brought back.
Though the recent failure of Northern Grid was an embarrassment for the country as a whole, but for the national capital, Delhi, it was a blessing in disguise. It opened the eyes of our authorities whose only focus was metro, as a mode of transportation in Delhi and underlined the need to have an alternative transportation mechanism, which was not dependent on electricity.
