Tension is mounting under Malakangiri and Koraput districts since past couple of months, as the Maoists intensified their activities like abducting civilians from remote villages and killing them brutally. Such inhumane activities are proving their presence.
Four Government officers including two police officials were dismissed from service by the Odisha government on Wednesday for a molestation and murder case of a lady teacher. Those four officials were Rayagada District Inspector of Schools Dharanidhar Behera, School Inspector and accused in the case Netrananda Dandasena, Inspector-in-Charge of Tikiri police station Sujit Kumar Say and Assistant Sub-Inspector of Tikiri police station Muralidhar Pradhan, reported The Hindu.
13 Maoists including a woman (Pramila alias Neha) gunned down on Saturday last during early hours by special operation group and the district voluntary force in the Silakota forest of Malkangiri District around 300KMs from Koraput of Odisha.
A top maoist leader Gola Ramullu alias Madhav alias Sridhar who carried Rs. 4 lakhs reward on his head was killed in an encounter with security forces in Malkangiri - Koraput districts on Friday. A joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) and police from Malkangiri and adjoining Koraput district during coming operation in the forest near Chiliba village forest area under Machhkund police station limits of Koraput district was killed.
