Located in the heart of the Doda town, Government City Middle School Doda was established in 1895 and has served the students of the locality for over 118 years but ironically the school is yet to be upgraded. Pertinently, many primary, middle and high schools, established years after the Government City Middle School Doda, have been upgraded.
While the international media has highlighted the case of thousands of people who went missing in Kashmir valley during past two decades, little has been written and known about the missing saga in Doda, another beautiful region in Jammu and Kashmir.
'My dream is to serve my mother who in spite of suffering from chronic disease never let us down,' said Master Vishal, student of class 7th studying in the Paramount public High School, Doda. He further added, 'If we lose our mother we all will die, since there is nobody who cares for us.' The family has decided to fight against all their suffering. They help their mother in making envelops after coming back from school, so that they can earn more to survive.
Nomadic life is, no doubt, an ancient practice but the prevalence of nomadic life reflects very badly on society that is not able to stop this evil. But in society many households may have to suffer the pangs of hunger if they are not able to move from one place to another. These families carry their children even if the future these innocent children is ruined, as that is the only choice open for them to survive in an impoverished existance.
