Gurdeep Singh Sasan Chairman, J&K Children's welfare society, urged the government to take immediate steps to bring necessary amendments in the present PC-PNDT Act. With amendments that were enacted on 20th Sept. 2003, while addressing a press conference, Sasan said that female foeticide is being carried out on a large scale and there is dire need for stringent laws to deal with the perpetrators of this unabated heinous crime.
Chairman J&K Children's Welfare Society said that a two members' team which was deputed to assess the loss are camping at Leh and has provided them with first hand information regarding the plight of people.
