The soft policies of the central and the state governments are hugely responsible for the massacres in Jammu and kASHMIR.

Terror assuming dangerous proportions due to soft policies of UPA: BJP

Jammu November 27

Voicing his grief over the loss of so many lives and injuries to large number of others in the terrorist attack at Mumbai, the former Union Minister and a senior leader of the BJP, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has alleged that the terror is assuming highly dangerous proportions but for soft policies opted by the Congress led UPA government at the Centre and the other Congress governments in States. He also disputed the claims of the State especially during the Gulam Nabi Azad tenure of 32 months. Gupta quoted official figures and maintained that number of families living the poverty line (BPL) has marked sharp rise during the past four years.

Addressing election meeting at Janipur, New plots, and Talab Tillo, Gupta alleged that the root cause of the problem was the communal partition of India in 1947, and subsequently granting separate status to Jammu and Kashmir under communal considerations to appease Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah and other National Leaders. The fact of history is that the communalism, separatism, fundamentalism, and militancy were born on this soil of Sants and Rishies but for communal mindset of the Congress and its policies for creating vote banks, he added and observed that Congress is the mother of all these ills. He questioned that why patriots like Moulana, Mohani and Others created Article 370 in the Indian Constitution despite warnings. Now this so called special status is providing a big headache for the people of this state as also for the rest of the Country.

Ridiculing the claims of Ghulam Nabi Azad and PCC Chief Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz that Congress mission was development and prosperity, Gupta pointed out that as per official figures the number of BPL families, which was 4.27 lakhs six years back in Jammu and Kashmir now has gone up to 7.36 lakhs. So in the case in other fields, whether it was the power crises, paucity of drinking water, unemployment or any other departments.

Referring to the awful conditions of the drains and other related problems, the BJP leader pointed out that Rs. 1470 crores were earmarked in the Prime Ministers Package for Sewerage in Jammu city and Rs. 580 crores were allocated for augmenting drinking water supplies but despite expiry of over four years, not a single penny was spent out of this Package in Jammu. He also referred to regional discrimination and asserted that notwithstanding promises to rectify the imbalances, nothing concrete was done and on the contrary creating four new districts in each region created more disparities. Even there was disparity creating in the emoluments of the poor workers and Govt. employees by the Ghulam Nabi Azad dispensation, he added.

At these meetings activists of the Congress and National Conference joined the BJP. They also include Shri Ajay Vaid, President Khatri welfare association, and NC leader, along with 400 supporters. Shri Ajay was later on appointed as Vice-President in the Yuva Morcha of the BJP. In another meeting NC leader Ayodya Kumar Gupta, who had contested corporation election on NC mandate, joined BJP with his supporters. Others who addressed these meetings also include Shri Chander Mohan, Shari Narsingh Dass Rajwal and others.
