A B Agrawal BBMB Chairman has got his forth extension of seven weeks this year.

The Union Power Ministry has granted a seven week  extension to Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) Chairman AB Agrawal.

A B Aggarwal was appointed BBMB Chairman in March 2010 for a period of three years. His term expired in March 18 this year. After that he has been given  four short duration extensions and the new extension is up to November 1 this year.

It may be mentioned that BBMB is celebrating its golden jubilee year in third week of October this year. A senior official maintained that the present extension is in view of coming golden jubilee celebration.

Padamjit Singh Chairman AIPEF said that the present BBMB Chairman does not deserve any extension as at least five cases have been registered by Central Vigilance Commission against him.

He further said that he has been running BBMB affairs in an autocratic manner and is working against the interests of Punjab and Haryana.

AIPEF have given numerous representations against BBMB Chairman to Prime Minister and Union Power Minister.

A BBMB official said that BBMB Chairman  case for a three-year extension from March 18 2013 to 2016 is pending with the Department of Personnel and Training. The CVC clearance for his extension has not yet been received and this is the only hitch in his extension.

Padamjit Singh further said that during last six months  the present Chairman has spent most of his time in perusing his extension case and working of BBMB is suffering. Ministry of Power now must start the selection process for new Chairman and no further extension to him should be granted. It is strange how the Centre continues to let him hold the office,” he said.
