Action in IPL auction on Day 1

The first player to be up for grabs was Gautan Gambhir. Whom the Royal Challengers Bangalore ambitiously bid for but it was Kolkata Knight Riders who bagged Gauti for 11.04 crore being the highest bid of the day.

Amidst controversies, withdrawals and excitement, the IPL auction for the 4th season began in Bangalore without the man himself- Lalit Modi. Glitz, glamour and yes the big fat money are all in the fray in this two-day auction where around 353 cricketers are up for the bid. The highest bidder was the KKR with Rs 11.04 crore for Gautam Gambhir. Followed by KKR again and Pune warriors with Rs 9.66 crores for Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa respectively. Following are the players who were auctioned on the first day of the IPL auction. Some were unsold , some sold at whopping amount while some at base price.

Next was Tillakratne Dilshan, who was  sold to Bangalore Royal Challenger for Rs.2.99crore. Then was the turn of the Indian pacer Zaheer Khan who was bought for Rs 4.14 crore by  to Bangalore Royal Challengers.

Ross Taylor got sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs 4.6crore.Yusuf Pathan was the next player on the spotlight. His base price being 1.38 crore, got sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 9.66 crore.

All-rounder Kevin Pietersen with the base price 1.84 crore gets sold to Deccan Chargers for Rs 2.99 crores.

Mahela Jayawardene the batsman from Sri Lanka comes with the base price of  1.84 crore and gets sold for 6.9 crore to Kochi. That becomes Kochi’s first player.

Yuvraj Singh from India with the base price 4.6 crore sold to Pune Warriors for 8.28 crore. Jumps from Kings XI Punjab. Up next was Ab De Villiers wicketkeeper/batsman from South Africa with the base price of 1.84 crores and got sold to RCB for Rs 5.06 crores.

Cameron White, batsman from Australia goes to Deccan Chargers for 5.06 crores. Jacques Kallis gets sold for 5.06 crore to KKR. Rohit Sharma the Deccan Charger with a  base price of 92 lakh gets sold to Mumbai Indians for 9.2 crore which is 10 times his base price.

Andrew Symonds the all-rounder is based at 1.38 crore and got sold to Mumbai Indians for 3.91 crore. Symonds now will play with Bhajji in the same team. Kumar Sangakkara sold to Deccan Chargers for Rs 3.22cr.

Adam Gilchrist the former captain of Deccan Charger with a base price of 1.84 crore gets  sold to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 4.14cr.

Rahul Dravid with a base price 1.84 crore is Rajasthan Royals pick for Rs 2.3 crore.

Graeme Smith the batsman from South Africa with a base price of 1.84 crore was sold for Rs 2.3 crore to Pune Warriors

Robin Uthappa after a long bidding session was bought for Rs 9.66 crore by Pune Warriors. RCB lost the bid after the long bidding.

Johan Botha spinner from South Africa with a base price of Rs 92 lakh gets sold to RR for Rs 4.37 crore.

Next for the bid was VVS Laxman whose base price was was sold for Rs 1.84 crore to Kochi.

Daniel Vettori the bowler from New Zealand is based at Rs 1.84 crore and sold for 2.53 crore to RCB.

Brendon McCullum the first hard hitter of IPL 1 with a base price of s 1.84 crore was sold to Kochi for Rs2.18 crore. Sreesanth with a base price of 92 lakh is sold to Kochi for Rs 4.14 crore.

Irfan Pathan the bowler with a base price of Rs 92 lakh was sold for Rs 8.74 crore to Delhi Daredevils. Priety Zinta lost another boy from her KingsXI.

Rudra Pratap Singh the purple cap holder is based at a price of 92 lakh sold to Kochi for Rs 2.3 crore.

Michael Hussey Australian batsman with a base prize of Rs 92 lakh was bought back by Chennai Super Kings for 1.95 crore.

Shaun Marsh went to Punjab for 1.84 crore.

JP Duminy goes to Deccan Chargers for Rs 1.38 crore.

Shikhar Dhawan batsman from India based at Rs 46 lakh is sold for Rs 1.38 crore to Deccan Chargers.

Saurabh Tiwary another batsman from India with a base price of Rs 46 lakh was bought for a whopping 7.36 crores by the RCB.

David Hussey in the base price of Rs 1.38 crore was sold at Rs 6.44 crore to KingsXIP.

David Warner batsman from Australia based at Rs 92 lakh was sold for 3.45 crore to Delhi Daredevils.

Parthiv Patel Indian Keeper based at Rs 46 lakh was sold at Rs 1.33 crore to Kochi.

Wridhiman Saha was sold to CSK for Rs 46 lakh .

Dinesh Karthik at base price Rs 92 lakh was sold to KXIP for Rs4.14 crore.

Naman Ojha at the base price of Rs 46 lakh was sold for Rs 1.24 crore to Delhi Daredevils.

Brad Haddin from Australian Wk/batsman is based at a price of Rs 92 lakh was sold for Rs 1.49 crore to KKR.

Tim Paine Aussie wicket keeper base price of Rs 46 lakh was sold at Rs 1.24 crore to Pune Warriors.   

David Jacobs wicketkeeper from SA was sold for Rs 87.4 lakh to Mumbai Indians.

James Hope Aussie batsman sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 1.61 crore.

Indian All-rounder Ravinder Jadeja based at Rs 46 lakh was picked at Rs 4.37 crore by Kochi.

Shakib Al Hasan from Bangaladesh sold for Rs 1.95 crore to KKR.

Staurt Board the all-rounder from England was sold for 1.84 crore to Kings XI Punjab.

Abhishek Nayar the all-rounder is picked up by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 3.68 crore.

Angelo Mathews the all-rounder from Sri Lanka was bought by Pune Warriors for Rs 4.37 crore. 

Dwayne Bravo sold to CSK for Rs 92 lakh. Smart choice.

Steven Smith of sold for Rs 92 lakh to Kochi.

New Zealand's James Franklin gets picked by Mumbai at Rs 46 lakh.

Ishanth Sharma with a  base price of Rs 92 lakh was sold to Deccan Chargers for Rs 2.07 crores.

Praveen Kumar from India was sold for Rs 3.68 crore to KXIP.

Ashish Nehra at a base price of Rs 92 lakh was sold to Pune Warriors for Rs 3.91 crore.

Brett Lee sold to KKR for Rs 1.84 crore which apparently is his base price.

Morne Morkel  sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 2.18 crore.

Dale Steyn sold for Rs 5.52 crore to Deccan Chargers.

Ryan Harris, Aussie bowler, at a base price of Rs 92 lakh was sold at Rs 1.49 crore to KXIP.

Dirk Nannes another Aussie bowler was sold at Rs 2.99 crore to RCB.

Doug Bollinger whose base price was Rs 92 lakh was sold at a price of Rs 3.22 crore to CSK.

Muttiah Muralitharan sold to Kochi for Rs 5.o6 crores.

Piyush Chawla at a base price of Rs was sold for Rs 4.14 crore to KXIP.

Ravichandran Ashwin  based at Rs 46 lakh was sold at Rs 3.91 crore to CSK.

Pragyan Ojha bought by DC for Rs 2.3 crore.

Amit Mishra sold to Deccan Chargers for Rs 1.38 crore.

Nathan McCullum gets sold to Pune for Rs 46 lakhs.

Ramesh Powar gets sold to Kochi for Rs 82 lakhs.

Aaron Finch was sold to Delhi for Rs 1.38 crores.

Eoin Morgan was bought by  Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 1.61 crore.

Brad Hodge was sold to Kochi for Rs 1.95 crores.

Callum Ferguson got sold to Pune for Rs 1.38 crores.

Manoj Tiwary remains a Kolkata Knight Rider. He was bought  for Rs 2.18 crores.

Cheteshwar Pujara bought by  RCB for Rs 3.22 crores.

S Badrinath sold to Chennai for Rs 3.68 crores.

Paul Collingwood bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.15 crores.

The first surprise of the day was when there were no takers for Dada. It was Dada’s turn which kept the whole KKR fans fingers crossed. Sourav Ganguly with the base price of Rs 1.84 crore was unsold at day 1 because no one bid for him. Slowly as the auction went on we saw a host of cricketer being unsold. A total of  15  players were unsold on the first day of the auction. They are Jesse Ryder, Herschelle Gibbs , Chris Gayle, Brian Lara, Murali Karthik, Ajantha Mendis, Tamim Iqbal, Graeme Swan, James Anderson, Dilhara Fernando, Graham Manou ,Matt Prior, Mark Boucher, Luke Wright, Chamara Kapugedera.
