In a bizarre incident Andhra Pradesh’s CM is Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and his helicopter are reportedly missing in the forest. Today (September 2) morning at 8.30 am the Chief Minister’s helicopter took off from Kurnool for Chittoor. Reddy was headed to Chittoor for attending an official function and scheduled to land at 10.45 am. While on its way to Chittoor district, the CM's helicopter had gone off the radar due to heavy rains. When the CM’s helicopter did not arrive on time an alert was sounded.
According to government sources in the Home Ministry say nobody has made contact with either Y S Rajasekhar Reddy or his pilot. As per reports Reddy's helicopter was reportedly untraceable till a short while ago. Earlier in the day Andhra Police chief and Air Traffic Control (ATC) said that the chief minister had landed safely in a forest of Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district, around 45 minutes away from Kurnool town. At that time the Andhra government had said that it didn’t want to give details on the location of the landing because this is an area where Naxals are very active.
However as the last report came in, the chief minister’s whereabouts are still a mystery. Meanwhile, an army helicopter has been despatched to search the forest area of Kurnool district where the CM’s helicopter is believed to have disappeared.
