August 25th to be observed as ?World Doctorates Day?

A distinguished group of highly accomplished professionals from 55 countries having doctorate degree in any field of study joined “Global Network of Doctorates" on LinkedIn to address various issues related to high quality teaching and research in higher education.
Prof. Kamal Kant Dwivedi, Founder of the Group and Vice-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University stated that the main idea behind creation of this Group is to share a major responsibility of generation and dissemination of knowledge and to steer our society towards prosperity and high quality of life. In addition, this group offers a global platform for the members to share their experiences and to network as a powerful academic body.
According to Dr. Nidhi Kesari, Manager of the Group and Assistant Professor of Delhi University, there are over 1070 members from across the world have joined this Doctorates Group and contributed richly through hundreds of discussions and thousands of suggestions and comments. The members are identifying several key issues to improve research and quality education and brainstorming on various challenges in the education sector and are ready to lead by example.
Last year members observed the First "World Doctorates Day" by organizing several academic events. This year again we invite all and one to observe second "World Doctorates Day" on August 25, 2013. On this day, all Doctorates are requested to rededicate themselves to uphold the decorum of the highest University degree that they have earned.
To mark the 2nd World Doctorates Day, the Global Network of Doctorates and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi is organizing a “Conference of Issues and Challenges in Doctoral Education” on September 4th, 2013 with Apeejay Stya University as the Knowledge Partner. Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for Human Resource Development has been invited as the Chief Guest to grace the function.
Apart from this event several seminars, conferences and discussions are planned in different institutions viz., Apeejay Stya University, Gurgaon; University of Lucknow, D.D.U.Gorakhpur University, Yadava College, Madurai; and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; on the occasion of World Doctorates Day-2013.
