Our girls are our precious resources and national builders of tomorrow. We celebrate 24th of January every year as National Girl Child Day. Though every day should be celebrated as Girl Child Day, on this occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to provide her an enabling environment for an all round development. Our girls have done us proud in class rooms, in sports and in other diverse fields. They have broken barriers and proved their worth in various spheres, even in voyage to Mars as part of Mangalyaaan initiative.
Today, we are proud that we are the one of the fastest growing economies on earth. Yet,the paradox remains that our girl child is being denied the right to be born. It is a matter of concern that gender biased Sex selection is continuing in many parts of the country. This is not only a violation of the human rights but also of a right to life guaranteed under the Constitution of the country.
Discrimination against the girl child must be fought with all the resources at our command. The Prime Minister launched the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative on 22nd of January, 2015 at Panipat, Hayana with a clarion call to all of us to save the girl child from cultural biases. With a view to empowering the girl child, it is urged that we must unite in our efforts to end socio-cultural biases against them.
As a responsible citizen of the country, it is our foremost duty to ensure fair, equitable and a just environment for the women and children. You are urged to join the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative by celebrating the National Girl Child Day on 24th of January, 2015 by educating the girl child.
