At Kingsmead cricket ground, Durban, South Africa today, first sizzling semifinal of Champions league twenty20 will play between Royal Challengers Bangalore and current IPL champions Chennai Super Kings at 1730(1530 GMT). The great news for cricket lovers is that South Indian will battle in South Africa and both Indian teams finally made its charisma felt in the World’s premier club. This means at least one Indian side will play in the final on 26th September 2010 in Johannesburg. The Champions League Twenty20 may not have the massive following that its more thrilling sibling, the IPL, has but it is clear the players consider it an important tournament and raring to go for win.
Interestingly, two teams made it to semi-finals in complementary style. Chennai Super Kings pulled out up inclusive wins in their first two games before losing to Victoria Bushrangers in the Super Over and other with a must-win situation in their last league game.
On other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore started with hit before bending to two defeats and finally they made it to semi-finals with last minute heroics in their final game against the Highveld Lions. There games will be decided more by the batmen than the bowlers, because both teams depend on runs and hard hitter. In case of Royal Challengers, they have more hard hitter in team than Chennai Super Kings.
In Bangalore side, Manish Pandey and Dilon du Preez are brilliant and looked assured, while Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli are top in form and have been amongst the highest run getters. Captain Anil Kumble magnificent bowling will make the match different at any time of any over and he is also most economical bowler of tournament. In contrast, Chennai’s batting line up has been balanced, there players like Michael Hussey, Murali Vijay, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, Anirudha Srikkanth have all played a good hand in one match or the other including captain MS Dhoni. There bowlers Doug Bollinger, Muttiah Muralitharan and R Ashwin are in great form. Bangalore too has been served well by Dale Steyn, Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar together with Anil Kumble. Chennai have advantage as they are winner of IPL this year but equally Bangalore team has never say die attitude. The overall head-to-head record is Bangalore winning four to Chennai's three; it shows how competitive the rivalry between the two sides has been.
