The Chief Ministers Relief Fund has been a boon to the poor patients during their hour of distress and suffering. Many Public and Private Agencies and organizations are coming forward to donate for the noble cause for mitigating the suffering of poor and the needy patients.
Amongst those who had all praise for the Government for financial assistance are Smt. Bimla Devi of Ganebali village of Banjar area in Kullu district who had been suffering from heart disease and was to be operated upon but due to poverty and lack of resources she could not manage to arrange enough money for surgery. For her, life seemed to be slipping out of her hand. Looking with wet eyes towards her children, she had with many unanswered questions for which she had no answers. She was guided by someone to approach the Government for financial assistance for her treatment. To her dismay, a sum of Rs. 1.75 lakh was released from Chief Ministers Relief Fund for her surgery.
Smt. Bimla Devi was fortunate enough to receive relief for her treatment from Chief Ministers Relief Fund and today she is leading a happy life with her family. Similar is the story of Shri Som Nath of village Harol of Jwalamukhi area who was suffering from Hepatitis-C and all his hopes were
shattered. The only person to earn livelihood for his family, life seemed to be burden for him. He was not able to manage the hefty amount of money required for his treatment, however, the Chief Ministers Relief Fund came to his rescue and he was extended a financial help of Rs. two lakh for his treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla. Today he has all praise for the Government which is committed for welfare of its people.
There is a long list of beneficiaries for whom Chief Ministers Relief Fund came to rescue. Many poor and needy, who had one or another medical problems and were not in a position to spent huge amount of money required for their treatment for various ailments approached the Government for financial help. Amongst them Shri Gurmail Singh of Haroli area of Una district received Rs. 1.40 lakh, Shri Anil Sharma of Shaila area of Shimla received Rs. 2.50 lakh for his backbone surgery, Shri Barkat Ali of Bagheri area of Mandi received Rs. two lakh for his hip replacement, Smt. Karodu Devi of Tauni Devi area of Hamirpur district received Rs.1.10 lakh, Smt. Kamla Devi of Sundernagar area of Mandi received Rs. 1.40 lakh, Shri Joginder of Dharamshala of district Kangra received Rs. 75,000, Smt. Totma Devi of Karsog area of district Mandi received Rs. 1.75 lakh, Shri Narayan of Padhar area of Mandi received Rs. 2.75 lakh for their treatment.
Since January, 2013 more than 190 needy and deserving have been provided relief worth Rs 1.85 crore for treating various ailments at IGMC Shimla, besides many were provided financial assistance for treatment at other hospitals within and outside the State.
The present State Government was committed for welfare of every section of the society and to provide succor to the poor and the under privileged. Fervent appeals were being made to the people, big business houses, and organizations, both public and private, for contributing generously towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund and surprisingly large number of people and organizations came forward to contribute for the noble cause for mitigating the suffering of poor and less privileged.
