Natural happiness on India’s win on Pakistan seen on face of Sonia Gandhi and her children witnessing sparkling semi-final World Cup Cricket final between India and Pakistan at Mohali (India) on 30th March 2011 from aam-admi stands was noteworthy. Everyone in India irrespective of cast and religion joyously celebrated victory of Dhoni-team by mid-night processions and firing of crackers.
However it was surprising that Pakistani premier Yusuf Raza Gillani did not clap even once after India’s well-deserved victory praised even by the rival captain Shahid Afridi. However later Pakistani premier corrected the omission by hailing India’s victory as victory of cricket and peace. Rather it was victory of communal harmony as well.
Review of umpires’ decisions through advanced technology has added new dimensions to fairness in cricket. However considering reviews proving several decisions of umpires to be wrong, more modification in the system is necessary. Chances of review available to a team should be auto-increased with any of the umpire’s decision found wrong after review.
