UNICEF Patna and Public Relation Department of Bihar organized two day Clicks for Change workshop Human Photography for school and college students and photo journalists from July 17 to18 at Hotel Pataliputra Ashok in Patna. This workshop was organized to celebrate the silver jublee of UN Convention of the Rights of the Child.
workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the programme Patna
Divisional Commissioner Dr N. Vijyalaxmi by lighting the lamp. A
short green video was also shown by Prasanth Vishwanathan based on
the developmental stories of Sebastro Selgado.He is the world famous
green activist and photographer of Brazil.
"Photojournalism is an art. A good photograph can change the life. It requires good vision, experience and patience. It is best medium to show the sensitive and developmental human and environmental stories. A photograph is equal to thousand words." said Patna Divisional Commissioner Dr N. Vijyalaxmi said during her inaugural speech.
"Photo journalists should show the photographs like stories." said the UNICEF Bihar Chief Dr Yameen Mazumdar to the participants.
Asst director of PRD Bihar Nina Jha highlighted the importance of developmental photography for the change in the society..
Former photo journalist of Reuters,Mumbai PrasanthVishwanathan explained in technical details for the betterment of photo stories submitted by the participants which were based on field work of Thursday at Kamla Nehru Nagar slum colony and Bihar Bal Bhawan,Kilkari,Patna.
Programme Manager of UNICEF Bihar Shivendra Pandey also appreciated the photo stories of the young photo journalists. Prof Mazhar Elahi of College of Arts and Crafts also showcased their beautiful photographs in the programme during his slide show lecture.All participants of the workshop also shared their experiences
Young photographer Prashanth Vishwanathan was the main resource person of the workshop. On Friday he explained all most important technical photography terms to young photographers for better photography skills and success in this field. His slide show lecture on Development Human Photography was very interesting and valuable for young photographers for better career.
"This was the first photography workshop which was organized by the UNICEF Bihar for young photo journalist in Bihar. About 55 photographers from College of Arts and Crafts, Patna Womans College,Bihar Bal Bhawan Kilkari and local media houses participated in this workshop." said UNICEF Bihar media incharge Avinash Kumar to this citizen journalist. Nipurnh Gupta of UNICEF announced that all selected photo stories of this workshop would be exhibited very soon to encourage the budding photo journalists in Patna.She also gave vote of thanks.
