Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today announced Sub Divisional Magistrate office for Sulah Constituency to be at set up Dheera. He, also, upgraded the Health Sub Centre at Darang to Primary Health Centre and sanctioned IPH Sub-Division at Sulah and a veterinary Dispensary at Bhattu.
Addressing a large public meeting organized here at Darang, he jeered at the opposition saying that it was unable to see the development carried out by the Congress and making false statements. He said that Himachal Pradesh came into existence because of the strenuous efforts of the Congress Party and the whole state was reorganized on the basis of administrative needs. He reprimanded the opposition for taking steps to divide Kangra and other districts during its regime without any prudence. He said such steps could have been damaging to the State as these were not based on the administrative needs but on political avarice.
Virbhadra Singh said that the state had sufficient number of districts as such and there was no need of creating new districts as tried out by the erstwhile BJP govt. as it was an irresponsible act and should have been sheer wastage of public money. Rather these funds should have been utilized on development works like education, health, road, transport, electricity, water supply and other sectors. The Congress Govt. repealed all such decisions taken by the then BJP govt. as soon as it came into power.
He further told that Himachal Pradesh made a significant progress after it was formed but in the beginning it lacked basic infrastructure. Today, there were over 37,000kms of road length in the state. All the villages of the state had uninterrupted supply of three phase electricity. There were 117 govt. degree colleges and 15,000 schools in the state and concrete steps were taken to provide qualitative education to the students especially the girls at their door steps. The state govt. had given 32,500 laptops to the meritorious students so far and this year over 9,300 laptops would be distributed to such students. A number of employments were generated in the last four years.
Chief Minister said that he, personally, visited every constituency and talked to the people and depending upon their needs and aspirations, he sanctioned various projects and schemes. All the developmental works were being completed within their stipulated period. 'I believe in equal and harmonious development of the whole state and never differentiate on the basis of party lines. No area was ever neglected during my tenure whereas BJP did otherwise', he added.
