DIVIDING MCD IN FIVE PARTS
MADHU AGRAWAL | 09 Apr 2011
IT IS senseless to burden Delhites with unnecessary burden by having five municipal-bodies in the capital city by increasing municipal councillors, mayors and office bearers. It is unprecedented that a city may have five municipal bodies. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for all administrative purposes is already divided in several zones, and dividing it in five full-fledged municipal bodies is just to add more ‘white elephants’ in form of added elected representatives and office-bearers of the elected bodies.
However it is time that re-allocation of Lok Sabha boundaries may be done so that trans-Yamuna having its own peculiar city-structure may have two exclusive Lok Sabha seats with remaining five for other parts of the city.
