Dr. V N Sharda, Director Central Soil & Water Conservation Research and Training Institute, Dehradun, has been appointed as member of Agriculture Scientist Recruitment Board, New Delhi.
Dr. V N Sharda is the newest member of Agriculture Scientist Recruitment Board, under Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), New Delhi.
Vishwa Nath Sharda hails from a small village Nurpur Bedi in Ropar District. He was Director Central Soil & Water Conservation Research and Training Institute, Dehradun, under ICAR for the last 11 years.
He was a brilliant student and did his M.Tech and Ph.D from Punjab Agriculture University; he is recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Senior Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship of United States Information Agency in the area of Environmental Studies.
In recognition to his outstanding contributions in the fields of watershed management, soil conservation and erosion modelling, he has been bestowed with several awards and honours, which include the prestigious Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Puruskar, Jawahar Lal Nehru Award for the best Ph.D thesis and Vasantrao Naik Awards of ICAR, Shankar Memorial Award, 2008-09 of ISAE, New Delhi, Intellectual’s Honour - 2003 “Uttaranchal Ratan”.
