CONSUMING TOO much white sugar can cause insulin resistance and future diabetes. The healthy sugar is brown sugar or Jaggery. Refined sugar if eaten over a period of time can cause increased insulin levels in the body and insulin resistance. Other feature of insulin resistance are pot belly obesity, high triglyceride levels, low good HDL cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Apart from white sugar, white wheat flour and white rice are also harmful to the body. Insulin resistance is also associated with future cancers and paralysis.
