The first international “Fascination of Plants Day”, will be launched on 18th May 2012. According to the website http://www.plantday12.eu, the European Plant Science Organisation will launch the Fascination of Plants Day.
The objective of the programme is to involve more and more people across the world and impart knowledge and awareness on the need and importance of plant for better environment, sustainability, agriculture, horticulture, forestry etc.
Day to day increase in human population along with rapid urbanisation coupled with deforestation has resulted in decrease of land area, soil erosion, loss of biodiversity, ecological imbalance, increase of carbon di-oxide, increase in green house temperature, global warming etc. These calls for destruction of mother earth in near future. Thus, to save and protect our mother earth the role of “Fascination of Plants Day” will play a major role.
