The TelanganaPolice today shot dead Five alleged SIMI activists s in Jangaon in Warangal district of Telangana.
Police sources said they were killed when they tried to breakaway and escape from the police squadron. The encounter took place when they tried to escape while being taken to Hyderabad court from Warangal prison.
The suspects killed in the encounter have been identified as Viqaruddin, Syed Amjad, Haneef, Zakeer and Irfan -- all members of Tehreek Ghalaba E Islam. According to police, they tried to overpower the escort police and tried to snatch away the weapons. In retaliation cops opened fire and they were all killed.
The accused, Viqaruddin Ahmed and his gang was involved in killing of a police constable in Hyderabad. He is said to be having links with Pakistna's ISI. Earlier, the gang had also plotted to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Viqaruddin and Amjad were involved in the attacks on policemen at Falaknuma in 2009 and Shahalibanda.They also shot dead a constable in Gujarat in 2007 while looting a bank.
