Gayatri Mantra launched Nevada Latin Chamber of Business
Correspondent | 26 Nov 2013

Gayatri Mantra, considered the most sacred mantra of Hinduism, and other hymns from ancient Hindu scriptures were read at the launching of Nevada Latin Chamber of Business in Reno (USA) on November 21 evening.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed recited from Rig-Veda, the oldest scripture of the world still in common use, besides lines from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord), both ancient Hindu scriptures. He started and ended the prayer with “Om”, the mystical syllable containing the universe, which in Hinduism is used to introduce and conclude religious work.

Wearing saffron colored attire, a ruddraksh mala (rosary), and traditional sandalpaste tilak (religious mark) on the forehead, Zed, reciting from Bhagavad-Gita, urged Chamber officials and others to keep the welfare of others always in mind.

Andres Gonzalez, Chamber President, cut the ribbon signifying Chamber’s launch, and addressed the gathering. Others who spoke on the occasion included Carlos Garcia, Don Felipe, Chuy Gutierrez, Laura Calzada, Burt Ramos, Frank Peralta and Carlos Bonilla. Chamber’s “mission” includes to “promote and support economic and social development of Latino business” and its “purpose” is stated as to “represent and guide the Latino business community”.

Rajan Zed is a global Hindu and interfaith leader, who besides taking up the cause of religion worldwide, has also raised huge voice against the apartheid faced by about 15-million Roma (Gypsies) in Europe. Bestowed with World Interfaith Leader Award; Zed is Senior Fellow and Religious Advisor to Foundation for Religious Diplomacy, Spiritual Advisor to National Association of Interchurch & Interfaith Families, etc.
