The entertainment industry led by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the Film and Television Producers Guild and the global media conglomerate Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (ZEE) initiated a fund-raiser campaign, "HUM HAIN…Ummeed-e-Kashmir" to raise funds and awareness for flood-stricken Kashmir.

The charity concert was held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium in Delhi on 19th October 2014 to gather support and funds for the flood victims of Kashmir and Assam. The recent floods in Jammu & Kashmir and Assam have devastated and unhinged the lives of many leaving many casualties and loss of homes, property and livelihoods in its wake.

Bollywood supported the initiative in full force including Amitabh Bacchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Neha Dhupia, Shaan and the young superstars Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt and Sushant Singh Rajput forming the stellar line-up.

HUM HAIN... Ummeed-e-Kashmir invites donations to its philanthropy partner "United Way of India", and along with their team of professionals strives to work alongside several NGOs, Government bodies, celebrities and civilians to give the cause a unified voice. The concert included a list of celebrity performers who urged viewers to donate to key NGOs and specified Disaster Relief Funds in support of the flood relief projects.

Speaking about this noble initiative, Sabbas Joseph, President of Event and Entertainment Management Association said, "Through this relief campaign we were able to create a sense of solidarity and unity across the nation, as bringing the country together was at the core of this initiative. The funds we have gathered will be of great help in rebuilding Kashmir and bringing relief to our Kashmiri brethren."

So far, the initiative has collected Rs. 6,51,50,000 from the sponsors of the event and the celebrity and individual contribution has been Rs. 30,00,000 and Rs. 10,06,300 respectively.

Though no amount of monetary compensation can compensate for the loss suffered by the people, Hum Hain… Ummeed-e-Kashmir has helped in bringing people together to generate funds for our brethren in the time of need.
