I would be a Pappu and not vote
Satbir Singh Bedi | 21 Apr 2009

Several non-governmental organisations are coming up with slogans to encourage people to come out and vote. But to whom? This question is still lying unanswered as there are virtually no honest and selfless candidates in the elections anymore

THERE ARE advertisements in the media, which say that I must vote but why should I vote when my vote has the same weightage, which the vote of a drunkard has?

If I am to vote then I would vote after due consideration of the working of the various parties but a drunkard or a foolish person would come and if he votes for somebody else without thinking then my vote would just go waste.

Moreover, whom should I vote for? All the political parties consist of criminal and corrupt people. They make tall promises which they never keep. They say that they are servants of the people but actually, they stand for elections so as to indulge in corruption and earn money. Under these circumstances, why should not I sit at home and enjoy myself?

To hell with voting. I would better be a pappu as the advertisement in the media call the person who does not vote.
