India and Bangladesh have signed a Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) for the years 2010-2012 to promote cooperation in the fields of art & culture, youth affairs & sports and mass media.
India and Bangladesh have signed a Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) for the years 2010-2012 to promote cooperation in the fields of art & culture, youth affairs & sports and mass media. The CEP was signed here by the Secretary, Union Ministry of Culture ShriJawhar Sircar and Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh Mohamed Mijarul Quayes during the visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Ms. Sheikh Hasina.
According to the CEP, among other things, both sides will exchange the visits of scholars/academicians in the field of art, culture and literature and also dance, music, theatre,Jatra groups, art exhibitions, mime shows, performing art groups, exhibitions and other cultural events to meet the local demands for exposure to each others rich cultural tradition.
Both sides will exchange writers in the field of culture.
Both sides will exchange children’s paintings, dolls, books and works of creative arts.
Both sides will exchange rare publications which are not otherwise available in the open market to enrich the libraries of both the countries.
The CEP envisages for both sides to share the experiences in the field of sports and explore the possibilities of exchanging sports teams/coaches/sports administrators in diverse disciplines.
On mass media front both sides will exchange programmes through their respective radio and TV organizations and will provide facilities for visiting radio and TV persons in each other’s country associated with the development of broadcasting/telecasting. They have also agreed to exchange two journalists each including inter-alia those engaged in dissemination of Government information. Both sides will participate in each other’s International Film Festival for documentary, short and animation films with their participants. Both sides will organize Film Weeks in each other’s country, among other things.(EOM)
