THE INTERCEPTOR test missile called Air Defence Missile AAD-05 was launched from the Indian Army’s Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur in Orissa’s Balasore District which hit accurately the mid-air missile off the Coast of Orissa near the Wheelers Island, The Times of India reported.
To track the target missile, an onboard radio frequency seeker was used that guided the AAD-05 Interceptor missile to hit and destroying the mid-air missile.
Indian Defence Minister, A K Antony, congratulated the scientists for the successful accomplishment of ballistic missile defence capability.
With this successful interceptor missile test, India has become the fifth nation in the world to have ballistic missile defence capabilities against the missile attack.
