India's chances in the World Cup 2011
akshima kalla | 14 Mar 2011

Having tied one and won the three matches out of the four matches so far, India is at the top in their group B leading with seven points even after losing the fifth match with South Africa. And they are assuring their place in the quarter finals.

RECENT CRICKET matches played by India are under various scanners in the ongoing World Cricket Cup 2011, being played in India. Although, they are improving on one side but right now its time to show what they have got in themselves. The doubts have been aroused in the minds of the people because of their not so convincing and appreciative performances against the minnows Ireland and Netherlands. And the game with England showed that they are not less than any other good team competing in this tournament. But the tie between the two teams again brought the Indian team performance in question?

Having tied one and won the three matches out of the four matches so far, India is at the top in their group B leading with seven points even after losing the another and fifth match with South Africa. And they are assuring their place in the quarter finals. The batting squad of team India is exemplary as it has likes like Najafgarh ka Sultan- Virender Sehwag, Master Blaster- Sachin Tendulkar, Punjab ka Puttar- Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Virat Kohli. The batting department is filled with many hidden reserves, power and skills.

But on the other side of the coin, the bowling line has not come up with that force to show their ball magic as the tournament is at its peak. With the absence of Praveen Kumar, and replacement of leg-spinner Piyush Chawla with off-spinner R Ashwin might go well for India. Yuvraj Singh’s all- rounder performances in the previous matches are commendable, as he is getting bat, ball and field right. Definitely, fielding needs to be better so as to make the prospects of winning World Cup get stronger.

On the whole and taking together all the aspects, why can’t we bring the cup home? What it requires is just few adjustments, strategy and hard work. Then there is no room of losing the cup and repeating the history again.
