The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh greeting the nation on the occasion of Easter said that Christs resurrection signifies that truth and love triumph over evil and hatred. "Easter celebrates compassion and brotherhood and signifies a brighter future. May the celebrations strengthen the bonds of unity among our countrymen," he added.
Kerala's Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and leaders of various political parties in the state also greeted the Keralites on the occasion. "Wishing everyone the peace and joy of Easter," said Chandy. As we know that Christians constitute about 23 per cent of Kerala's population and Easter is celebrated with gaiety in the state.
The Christians across Kerala celebrate Easter to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ after Crucifixion with special prayers in the churches and messages of hope, redemption and spiritual revival. Easter celebrations include Church services, festive family meals, Easter egg hunts and gift-giving in the state.

Believers hold that the resurrection of Jesus is a foundation of the Christian faith. Easter gives the message a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
