International Day of Zero Tolerance to FGM: Women groups cutting across religious lines appeal for ending practice of female circumcision
Dr. Lalit Kishore | 06 Feb 2017

On the occasion of International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) being observed today, the UN, along with the inter-governmental organizations such as the African Union, the European Union and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, has called for the elimination of FGM once again.

Despite the calls to end the cruel gender discriminating and human rights violation practice of  female genital mutilation (FGM) year after year on the observance of International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation, the disturbing and horrific tales of babies being the victims of practice keep on getting revealed by the campaigners.

It seems that religious bigots are taking to trend of targeting younger girls being for female circumcision and practice is becoming more hidden and is being done on the sly.

However, women Groups across the world including the Muslim women keep on appealing to religious leaders for an end to female genital mutilation.  In India, Bohra women have urged the religious leaders to end to practice, reports media.
