Is it big deal if VVIPs travel ordinary class?
Neetu Banga | 29 Oct 2010

The question that arises here is that, why does the media create a hullabaloo over a political scion getting involved with such small events. It is not a big deal if VVIPs in India like to travel in sleeper class or common person mode of transport?

AN INCIDENT that took place ten days ago with the focal point being Rahul Gandhi's unpublicised train journey from Gorakhpur to Mumbai wherein he traveled in an ordinary sleeper class. The more he tried to keep his plans under cover, the more eyeballs it attracted from the media.

The question that arises here is that, why does the media create a hullabaloo over a political scion getting involved with such small events. It is not a big deal if VVIPs in India like to travel in sleeper class or common man's mode of transport? Why are we so conscious about their personal and political life?

If we travel to western countries, we can easily find their head of states, high profile officials etc traveling in metros and buses with the common people. I appreciate Rahul Gandhi's effort for having travelled in sleeper class and patiently listening to the grievances of the migrants, unemployed youth and discussed in large about their dreams and aspirations. However, media has to play a more ethical part and should render their support for realising the common dream.

The country cannot progress unless we filled it with government progressive plans for poor. Need of hour the is that our VVIPs should get the idea of implementing plans.
