Is Prime Minister in the dock?
MADHU AGRAWAL | 04 Mar 2011

It is perhaps for the first time that Prime Minister is definitely under dock now on Supreme Court cancelling appointment of PJ Thomas as Chief Vigilance Commissioner.

IT IS perhaps for the first time that Prime Minister is definitely under dock now on Supreme Court cancelling appointment of PJ Thomas as Chief Vigilance Commissioner.

Accountability is to be fixed now with either Prime Minister or Union Home Minister made to own responsibility for forcing PJ Thomas as majority rather than unanimous choice of selection-committee with Opposition Leader on record to resist selection of PJ Thomas as Chief Vigilance Commissioner.

Procedural changes should be there with unanimity rather than majority may be compulsory for selection of Vigilance Commissioners. Rather Election Commissioners should also be selected by consensus between Prime Minister and Opposition Leader.
