Jalandhar's DAV Colleges bag first prize in National Youth Parliament Competition second time in a row

The Prizes for the Eleventh National Youth Parliament Competition for Universities and Colleges were distributed at a function held on March 23 at GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building in New Delhi, reported PIB. Rajeev Shukla, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning presided over the function.


The DAV Colleges at Jalandhar in Punjab won the running parliamentary shield and trophy for standing first in the competition for second time in a row.  The merit trophies were awarded to University of Kanlyani of West Banga; Jai Prakash University, Chhapra of Bihar; Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and S. M. B. Government College, Nathdwara of Rajasthan.

According to the GOI, the Youth Parliament Scheme aims at inculcating among the younger generations the spirit of self-discipline, tolerance of diverse opinion, righteous expression of views and other virtues of a democratic way of life.

Moreover, the scheme is meant to acquaint students with the practices and procedures of parliament, techniques of discussion and debate and develops in them the quality of leadership.
