IT HAS been almost more than two months and the protests on the streets of Kashmir are continuing and people are everyday demanding azaadi. I just want to ask my Kashmiri muslims brothers and sisters that does Kashmir just belong to Kashmiri muslims?
There are Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Sikhs and there is Ladakh region as well, they never hold any banner asking for azadi as being demanded in the valley. More than hundreds of thousand Kashmiri pundits left their homeland in 1990’s and many of them were killed as well.
Just few days back, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said we don’t want any autonomy and packages, but we just want freedom (azaadi). Is he just playing with people’s emotions in Kashmir? I just want to tell Mirwaiz Umar Farooq that Kashmir belongs to India and will remain forever because Kashmir belongs to Kashmiri pundits and Kashmiri Sikhs as well.
Recently many Kashmiri muslims took up their march to Jantar Mantar and shouted slogans calling for azaadi, it’s really sad that only kashmiri muslims want freedom and they don’t want to be with India which is emerging as the biggest economy in the world. In this contest there have been lot of sterotype which being questioned that Why are only Kashmiri Muslims Anti-India?
I know it’s sad that there are almost 58 civilians dead, but do we see other side of coin as well that there are lots of jawans badly injured in this stone pelting. Home Secretary, G K Pillai also said that people, who break law and attack police posts can not be termed as innocent civilians. I am totally in agreement with Pillai because CRPF is doing its duty.
We must understand that this is nothing but to just make confusion among the Indians and our civil society. Our Government is doing enough to retain peace in valley. Army should be there to control the situation and strengthen if required. Let be very clear that Kashmir is an integral part of India and will remain so.
