“Let us learn from the book ‘Wings of Fire’ An Autobiography by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

To become good teachers if not great teachers, the fraternity need to clearly put their souls possessing spiritual quotient (SQ) and hearts having emotional quotient ( EQ) into the work of teaching and learning along with heads bestowed with intelligence quotient( IQ), told Professor Goel.

To keep performing well in the profession of teaching, we need total commitment which is the common denominator among all successful men and women - the desire to work at optimum capacity, believes Professor Goel who belongs to the family of teachers for four generations.

To sow the seeds of goodness among students, we need to be honest, humane and spiritual, told Professor Goel.

Earlier Professor R.P. Grover, Course Coordinator & Director ASC  welcomed & introduced Professor Goel.
“Let us learn from the book ‘Wings of Fire’ An Autobiography by A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (with Arun Tiwari) which is  full of wisdom for  glorious lessons of goodness by every teacher . “Bread baked without love is bitter bread that feeds but half a man’s hunger,” – “those who cannot work with their hearts achieve but a hollow, half-hearted success that breeds bitterness all around. If you are a writer who would secretly prefer to be a lawyer or a doctor, your written words will feed but half the hunger of your readers; if you are a teacher who would rather be a businessman, your instructions will meet but half the need for knowledge of your students; if you are a scientist who hates science, your performance will satisfy but half the needs of your mission”.

“Let the latent fire in the heart of every Indian acquire wings and the glory of this great country light up the sky”,
told Dr. M.M. Goel, Professor of Economics & Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Kurukshetra University while addressing the participants of 74th orientation course at the UGC Academic Staff College, here today. He was speaking on the topic ‘Excellence Models for Teachers in a Changing Economic Scenario’.
