Glazers had pledged to invest heavily this term to make manchester united compete with Chelsea
Manchester United had not won anything for the last 2 years. So this terms the club has decided to invest heavily in new talent that will take them to the height's they reached in 1999. Manchester united has been linked with Tottenham's Michael Carrick for a permanent replacement for already departed Roy Keane. With scholes ageing they are also looking to add versatile argentine midfielder Juan Roman Requelme. Ruud Van Nistelrooy is expected to depart from the club, that will not be the case as he is still the best striker in the world. Expect united to bid for Fernando Torres of Althletico Madrid in Spain. United had also expressed there interest in Lyon's Diarra but because of his price of 24 million pound's one didn't really expect him to come as he will be too costly for that price so expect a bid of around 5 million pounds for portugal's Petit in coming weeks. Brazillian wonder kid Kerlon will join united after the world cup, as he will need the all important work permit to play in England.
