Mandatory information notice boards should be present in all public vehicles
Vishnu Mohan | 08 Oct 2014

People boarding public transport like auto rickshaws, taxis and the like should be encouraged to board only those vehicles which have clear notice boards inside the vehicle depicting the name of the driver/owner, his contact mobile phone number, his photograph, his address.

Public transport vehicle manufacturers should be encouraged to also include in their design an area for notice boards inside these vehicles where all these details could be easily and nicely spelt out.

It is seen some vehicles do carry these notice boards with requisite information whereas others do not have any such details.  Such information should be properly printed and easy to read in either hindi or English along with regional language.  For those who may not be well versed with the regional language of a particular State, information wordings in either hindi or English should help passengers who are from outside the state and regularly commute through public transport.

Existing laws governing the above should be amended, if required, to make it mandatory for all the public/private vehicles to carry proper information notice boards for the general information of commuting passengers.
