Massive figure of 418 was impossible task for WI to cross
John F Williams | 10 Dec 2011

It was indeed a good performance by the Indian captain Sehwag, but neverthe less even Ramdin played beautifully in the Indore One Day International.

INDIA SCORED a massive Score of 418 Runs for 5  Wickets at the rate of 8.36 runs per over. It is India’s score in ODIs. Captain Sahwag scored a magnificent knock of 219 runs, a world record in ODIs. Viru battered the old record of 200 not out of Sachin. He completed over 8000 runs in ODIs, and already he is just a few odd runs short of 8000 runs in Test Matches.

Sehwag's knock of 219 runs came in merely 149 balls with 25 boundaries and 7 huge sixes over the fence. His strike rate worked out to 146.98. But to me the not out score of 200 by Sachin at Gwalior has more weightage than 219 runs of Sehwag. Incidentally, both Ses – Sachin and Sehwag - have reached the 200 mark in the state of Madhya Pradesh - Tendulakar in Gwalior and Sehwag in Indore.

Ravindra Jadeja crossed the 50-wicket mark in ODI. The West Indies managed to cross the

mark.  the magic figure of 200 Runs. Quite an extraordinary performance, and at one stage it looked like the Windies weren't even going to overcome the his individual score of Sehwag even.

But Denesh Ramdin was the main instrument for West Indies not only  to cross the total of 219  Runs but also went on till the Score reached  265 Runs . He beautifully batted with 96 Runs in 96 Balls with the cent percentage SR and hit 12 Fours in his splendid innings. It’s indeed his sheer Bad luck to miss a Hundred by merely 4 Runs.

Sehwag, no surprise there, was named Man of the Match for his record-breaking batting exhibition. He gets an extra big cheque from the local cricket association for his performance. He said that it was a true wicket to bat on, and he's really thankful for the crowd's amazing support.

India win by 153 runs and take the 5-match series 3-1 with one dead rubber still to play. It was a match dominated by Sehwag's double ton, but one cannot forget the contribution of Jadeja and Rahul Sharma (on debut) who took 3 wickets each while Rahul also held a catch. It was 219% sure win for the Men in Blue. There was no stopping any where. Let us see if India can make it 4-0 at Chennai. Best of Luck!
