A core committee meeting was held to discuss various steps for implementation of 'Panikhaiti-Digaru Wetland Project' on April 24, 2012 at Dispur, Assam.

WITH A view to discuss various steps for implementation of “Panikhaiti-Digaru Wetland Project”, a core committee meeting was held on April 24, 2012 at Dispur under the chairmanship of Assam Minister for Irrigation and Soil Conservation Dr. Ardhendu Kumar Dey.

The meeting discussed on the various facets and steps of the Central sponsored Panikhaiti- Digaru Wetland Project. The project will be implemented by the collaborated efforts of Soil, Agriculture and Fisheries Department. The meeting further discussed about creation of implementing authority or Society, need for opening of a bank account for implementation of the Project etc. It also resolved to make a thorough survey of the project and within ten days of acquiring the survey report, the detailed project report will be prepared.          

The meeting was also attended by Assam Minister for Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs Nilamani Sen Deka; Assam Minister for Fisheries Basanta Das; Agriculture Production Commissioner RT Jindal; Vice Chancellor of Assam Agriculture University Dr. K M Bujarbaruah; Deputy General Manager of NABARD, R K Belu and other senior officers of Soil, Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries Department.
