Messages from the elected on aspicious occasions

President Pratibha Patil greeted the people on the auspicious occasions of Milad-un-Nabi and Holi and said that Holi is the harbinger of joy and harmony. Like the myriad colours of Holi, our nation too is replete with diversity.

ON THE auspicious occasions of Milad-un-Nabi and Holi, Indian Preseident, Vice-President and Prime Minister sent out their greetings and wishes to the entire country and citizens.

The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi has said: 

“On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Mohammad, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens of this country. May the message of universal peace, compassion, tolerance and service to humanity preached by the Holy Prophet inspire us to live in fellowship, harmony and unity."

The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil in her message on the occasion of Holi has said: - “I extend my greetings and good wishes to everyone. Holi, the festival of colours is the harbinger of joy, happiness and fulfillment as it is celebrated at the onset of spring. Just like the myriad colours of Holi, our nation too is replete with diversity and let us learn to respect and protect the vibrant culture of our nation. Let the celebrations this year also bring the young and the old together and the joyous festivities infuse in us, a sense of compassion for our fellow human beings in our life."

The Vice President of India M Hamid Ansari said that through his message of love, humanism, righteousness and tolerance, Prophet Mohammad continues to illumine our lives and remains in abiding source of spiritual strength for all humanity.

“I greet the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, which celebrates the birth of Prophet Mohammad. Milad-un-Nabi reminds us of the life and spiritual teachings of Prophet Mohammad. On this occasion, let us pray that God bestows his blessings on all of us for peace, progress and harmony and unite us all in a common brotherhood of humanity.”

He has also greeted the people of the country on the joyous occasion of Holi, and said that the festive spirit of Holi transcends all social barriers and strengthens the social fabric. He called upon the people to celebrate this festival and to promote harmony, happiness and integration in the society.

“I extend my greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the joyous occasion of Holi, the festival of colours which is celebrated all over the country with traditional gaiety and zest. Holi marks the advent of spring and is truly a national festival, which reinforces our unity amidst diversity through the joyful celebration of sprinkling of colours. The festive spirit of Holi transcends all social barriers and strengthens the social fabric.”

The Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh has greeted the nation on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi. He said that the teachings of the Prophet proclaiming the oneness of God and compassion to fellow human beings are eternal. His life and work inspired us to spread peace, love and tolerance. I reverentially offer my prayers to the Prophet and join my countrymen in celebrating this auspicious occasion.

The Prime Minister has also greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Holi. In a message, the Prime Minister said that the festival of colours is a part of the texture of life of our people belonging to diverse faiths and persuasions. The spontaneity, joy and liveliness associated with its celebration symbolises the spirit of togetherness and harmony. Let the riot of colour yet again affirm our positive spirit of brotherhood and bring peace, prosperity and happiness in our lives.
