WHAT THE society failed to do has been executed by a woman, Rupam Pathak. The valiant and feisty lady in a broad day light murdered sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, Raj Kishore Kesri on Tuesday (January 4, 2011), at his home with a knife.
Pathak, the lady principal has accused Kesri and his personal assistant Vipin Rai of exploiting her sexually for years. Pathak even lodged an FIR against the perpetrators of the heinous crime, rape against the killed leader, Kesri and his assistant Rai. However, the case didn’t move even an inch as influential leaders were involved, the pertaining files were only biting dust in a corner of the police station.
In a customary style politicians came forward and condemned the killing. Ironically none tried to find out the reason behind the killing and what provoked educated lady to take knife to kill Kesri.
The brave lady did the most appropriate thing, non-government organisations (NGOs) and intellectuals should come forward to save this lady. She has set a precedent for many Indians. In a country like India wherein corruption is rooted in every department, common man can’t expect justice. The government machinery is only for influential people, politicians, bureaucrats, top corporate.
Ponder over these and you will know the real picture, former chief justices, Balakrishnan and Sabharwal facing corruption allegations, former chief ministers, Ashok Chavan, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Vilasrao Deshmukh were involved in the Adarsh land scam, former Telecom Minister, A Raja involved in mother of all scam, 2G scam, Suresh Kalmadi involved in CWG scam, Barkha Dutt, Vir Sanghvi involved in tap scam and many more. These examples are mere tip of an iceberg; the rot runs deep across the country.
