Observe August 20 as Anti-Mosquito Day
H.C.Gera | 23 May 2012
It was August 20 in 1897, and the weather was hot and humid, especially in Hyderabad. Sir Ronald Ross the scientist was working in a dark and hot office in a hospital at Begumpett. A few days back one of his hospital assistants brought a bottle containing larvae of mosquitoes. These larvae hatched into an adult on August 16, 1897.
Sir Ronald Ross collected one adult mosquito and killed with tobacco smoke on the spot for dissection but found nothing.
