Dhenkanal Vigilance department in course of its anti-corruption activities continues its efforts to get rid of corruption and to safeguard against drain off of public money, with the help of its honest and dedicated officers.
"We need corruption-free society, so we are working hard to get rid of it (corruption). Till to the date on an average we have 46 per cent of conviction rate that means most of the times the culprit gets the punishment. If we see, conviction rate of general police, then that will be merely 3-4 per cent. We are far ahead in solving such cases," said H.S. Mishra, OPS, Vigilance Deptt., Dhenkanal.
He also added, "We need cooperation of public as well as media people to help us in eradication of corruption."
The District has recently observed Vigilance Awareness Week in Dhenkanal from 27th October to 1st November, 2014. On this occasion, the District Collector also praised the department for its development and efficiency.
According to the annual report of Odisha State Vigilance Department, last year in 2013, 285 cases were registered in odisha. In Dhenkanal, on an average, about 15-20 cases are registered in a month.
"People have more faith in us, sometimes instead of filing an FIR with general police, people come to us because they think we work better and effectively as well as the cases get solved in less time," H.S. Mishra added.
