Pak shooting: Six SL players injured
ashokmission5 | 04 Mar 2009

Terrorists are getting bolder in Pakistan. They attacked a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team to the venue of the match. The Frankenstein?s monster that Pakistan created is doing what naturally comes to it, viz., destroying its creator!

THIS IS probably the most audacious terrorist attack in recent times. In Lahore, Tuesday morning (March 3), a gang of twelve gunmen reportedly fired at a bus carrying the Sri Lankan cricket team. Six members of the Sri Lankan team were injured in the gunfire outside the Gaddafi stadium and five policemen were killed, according to a security officer. While the team was shifted to a safer location in Lahore, two players were admitted to hospital.

Initial news reports confirmed that the two players were Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavithana. Some reports also said that pacer Chaminda Vaas was stretchered off and skipper Mahela Jayawardene had been critically injured. Video grabs released by Dawn News showed unidentified gunmen opening fire at the police vehicle escorting the team bus.

While the news has shocked the entire cricketing fraternity, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board has officially called off its team’s Pakistan tour.
