As against to the initial reports that Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu’s son and his reported political hair Lokesh will wait till next elections and will confined to his `backroom’ activities for this elections. Earlier it was speculated that both father and son will prefer to contest from two regions, one from Chandrababu Naidu’s constituency Kuppam in Chittoor district and other one from Hyderabad city so that to attract people from both the regions.

Even it was speculated that Chandrababu Naidu will contest in Lok Sabha polls either from Malkajgiri in Hyderabad or Hindupur of Anantapur district from Rayalaseema region, leaving his Kuppam seat to son.

However, the ongoing differences among TDP founder and Chandrababu Naidu’s father-in-law NT Rama Rao’s family members have reportedly forced Lokesh to shelve his moves. Chadnrababu Naidu is reportedly apprehensive that if he brings his son to the forefront now at a time when his brother-in-law N Harikrishna is sulking over not giving him priority in party matters, this deed would further precipitate the matters.

Hari Krishna, who had resigned for Rajya Sabha seat protesting against bifurcation of the state, keeping away from party activities, though he is member of the party’s polit bureau. He was not re-nominated to Rajya Sabha in recent polls. He was unhappy over promoting Lokesh by ignoring his son known as Junior NTR, who is a popular Telugu film star.

Moreover, Naidu’s another brother-in-law and Lokesh’s father-in-law Balakrishna is also reportedly demanding his pound of flesh in the party affairs. Balakrishna is also understood to have asked Naidu that he be made president of Seemandhra unit of the party. He is seen keeping away from party activities in recent times.

Though TDP souces proposed to nominate him to Rajya Sabha in recent polls in place of his brother Hari Krishna, he openly preferred to contest in direct elections. However, till now he has not conveyed his preferential seat. Chandrababu Naidu said that party will allot him whatever seat he wishes to contest.

According to sources, presently Hindupur assembly seat is kept for Bala Krishna, unless he wishes to contest from his native Krishna district. Being in the opposition for a decade, present elections would be very crucial for survival of TDP. So, Chandrababu Naidu seems to be not in hurry in promoting his son in active politics.

In fact, Lokesh announced to take up` Cycle Yatra’ (tour on cycle) to conduct party campaign all over the state. Different dates and rout maps were also floated. However, in changing circumstances on the advice of his father, he has reportedly decided to shelve his move.

Instead of playing a proactive role in the poll campaign, now he appears to have decided to confine himself as the ‘backroom boy’ in the party. In the present circumstances, Chandrababu Naidu fears allowing his son to lead party’s poll campaign might cause heartburn among the members of NTR’s family at this crucial juncture, where the yellow party is waging a ‘life-and-death’ electoral battle.

However, presently Lokesh playing important role at TDP headquarters supervising the surveys being conducted by the party leadership to finalize party candidates. He is also taking active role in scrutinizing list of party candidates to be finalized, besides overseeing party’s publicity material and advertisements for the polls.

As far as ‘backroom boy’ role is concerned, Lokesh is supervising the surveys being conducted by the party leadership to finalise party candidates. Party MPs CM Ramesh, Sujana Chowdary and other backroom support team of Chandrababu Naidu have been having frequent interactions with him
