Punjab has become Cancer Capital of world

Punjab has become the Cancer capital of world, said Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Global Ambassador of Roko Cancer Trust (UK)after inaugurating the Oral Research Centre at Genesis Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Centre.

Dhaliwal said, the number of cancer patients were higher in the Malwa area when about a year back, a survey was got conducted by the Punjab Government.  In Ludhiana itself, there were more than 4000 cancer patients.

He said, In Punjab, the cancer stages are taken as first, second and third and the treatment is possible, in case the breast cancer among women is detected at the first stage.  Irony is that due to lack of awareness in Punjab, cancer at first stage is not detected.

He further said, the cancer is increasing in the women in India due to fact that in England, Canada, America and other countries, every women of above 45 years, go in for screening of chest and poke sameer test of uterus, every year the governments of these countries have issued directive in this regard, to detect the symptoms of cancer at the first stage. 

Dhaliwal said, Roko Cancer has taken the initiative in Punjab to create awareness among the people by organizing camp at various places so that human lives are saved.
