Railway launched first Dual Fuel Train on Rewari-Rohtak Route

India is stepping forward to adopt green fuel. Recently, Indian railway launched first dual fuel system train. The train run on diesel and CNG both. The train flagged off by Railway minister Suresh Prabhu on the Rewari-Rohtak route. This train will consume over 20% of CNG, covering 81km distance in about two hours.

The initiative have taken in order to redeem greenhouse gas emission and bring some deduction in the trasporter's fuel bill. The usage of cheaper alternative fuel will also spare railway from facing yearly loss.

The railway board's separate environment directorate which set up by the minister constrained to use alternative fuel which includes not only CNG and diesel but also wind power and solar so that the dependence of railway on conventional energy will reduce. After which the train launched.

To run train on duel fuel through fumigation technology about 14,00 HP engine have modified by the railway.

The test trails are being conducted by the authority to increase the usage of CNG. Railway is also planning to run more CNG trains on other routes soon.
