Raksha Bandhan at Allahabad Celebrated with Fervour (Vinod Anand) Raksha Bandhan, the festival of love between brother and sister was celebrated with much fervour and zeal in the city. The ceremony involves the tying of a sacred thread by a sister on her brother’ wrist and brother in turn vow’s to protect her long life. The festival symbolizes the existence of unique relationship between brothers and sisters. It truly reflects the trust of sister on the brother. Abhishek, a college student says the festival promotes harmonious social life by reaffirming our faith in the traditional values. While speaking he further says the ideals of the festival promotes the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in once life. So, he celebrates the day with same feeling and pledges to protect sisters in what ever ways he can. Rohit an engineering student says he has planned to take his younger sister for a movie as she loves watching movies. He further says of the festival would have fallen the next day then he could be given a much bigger surprise to his sister by taking her to the first day first show of the movie. Mukesh, an employee at tank says though he did not had a holiday from office for the day yet he has already sent a greeting card entitled with lovely message for the day and a dress material for his sister. Eight year old Mohi says she waits for the day as she loves tying Rakhi to her brother as she gets sweets and chocolates from him on the day. She further said, though she gets the same from her brother whenever he comes but the quantity is more on the day of Rakshabandhan. The specialty of the day is as no one stops her from eating all the chocolates as compared to other days. Amrita says after a long gap of five years she and her brother together will be celebrating the days as both were not able to meet each other because of professional commitments. Not only this but rush of people were seen at males of the city. People who did not get the chance to shop before were purchasing Rakhi on the day. Almost all the sweet shops of the city were crowded with people as every one wanted to buy first and the favourate sweet for their dear brothers. In the areas of Civil Lines, Chaowk, Katra etc. people were seen in large number busy shopping for the day.
