Realities of life
Vinod Anand | 29 Jun 2011

The possession of material things breeds attachment, avarice and deviates us from our true goal of self-realization. Time is highly scarce in life. Even if we secure all the wealth of the world, we can not use it as our life-span is unknown.

WE NORMALLY spend our time cribbing over trivial issues or trying to accumulate things we actually do not need. The possession of material things breeds attachment, avarice and deviates us from our true goal of self-realization. Time is highly scarce in life. Even if we secure all the wealth of the world, we can not use it, because life-span is unknown. The foremost thing is that life is a gift of the Almighty, and we should learn to nourish it with a diet of love and forgiveness.

Another lesson is that one should refrain from attachments with anything. The most important thing is that we are all helpless puppets, dancing before His will. A man who has the luxuries gets used to live with them. The best example is that of Lotus flower. It goes up as the water level rises, but it does not come down when the water level comes down. We must realize the futility of attachment, of wealth, and of sullying our minds with past and future. It is the present that is most valuable treasure of our life. Why not try to embellish it with happy thoughts.

Make the most of it by constantly remembering Him. Time will help us remain unfazed when confronted with adversities. It is why it is said that past is history, future is mystery, and present is the gift of God. We should learn to enjoy every moment that come sin our life.
