16th April 2012 : DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi- Modal Transit System) has got a green signal from DUAC (Delhi Urban Arts Commission) for the re-development plan of ISBT, Anand Vihar.
DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi- Modal Transit System) has got a green signal from DUAC (Delhi Urban Arts Commission) for the re-development plan of ISBT, Anand Vihar. DIMTS has been assigned the task of re-development plan of ISBT Anand Vihar. According to the layout plan; ISBT will be developed as a multi- modal centre that will integrate city bus, metro rail and railways. The total cost for re-development of ISBT Anand Vihar is estimated to be around Rs 200 crores.After the approval of layout plan from DDA, tender will be called to appoint the construction agency. The project is likely to take about 20 months from the start of the construction.As per DIMTS?s proposal, the terminal will be built in an area of 9.2 hectares. ISBT Anand Vihar will have both metro station as well as bus parking facility. There will be provision of parking for 207 buses, 171 autos, 27 taxis, 438 two- wheelers and 1438 cars. Separate entrances and exits will be provided for the buses, auto rickshaws and taxis in order to avoid conflicts. Apart from this, a well planned network of foot-over bridges with travelators, escalators and elevators will be constructed. This will allow easy and safe movement of pedestrians between the terminals, metro and railway station. The new bus terminal will be differently -abled friendly. ISBT ?Anand Vihar will be a green building and all modes of energy conservative like heat proof design, proper lighting and ventilation will be incorporated in the design itself. The terminal will be secured with CCTVs and Building Management System (BMS). The new bus terminal will sport an international look and will have facilities like shopping areas and food courts where commuters can wait while their bus arrives.
